THE Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MoHSW) and the Tanzania Commission for Aids (TACAIDS) in collaboration with the John Hopkins School of Public Centre for Communication Programmes (JHU.CCP) has launched the second phase of the campaign, Tuko wangapi? Tulizana, which focuses on reducing number of sexual partners.
The campaign is under the support from United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the US President’s Emergency plan for AIDS Relief (REPFAR).
The campaign is expected to reach more than 71 per cent of Tanzanians and to inspire the public on how to end relationships with outside partners, to avoid starting new sexual relations, promote use of condom and HIV testing and counselling.
The Chief Medical Officer of (MoHSW), Dr Donan Mmbando, who was the guest of honour said that sexual relations are a major challenge facing the nation and bringing great health and social impacts.
He said that research shows that sexual relations that engaged many partners are among factors that cause quick infections of HIV/ AIDS.
